My creative space

Well this week has been full of many things but not much of the crafty persuasion. Before Scott went into the hospital I was taking care of him and then of course once he was there I was back and forth trying to make everyone happy. Thank you everyone for your good thoughts and prayers..He is coming home tonight Thank goodness!!! I don't know that I could handle another day of hospital runs etc...

I did have Shay try on his Halloween costume...Thank Goodness!! I am quite bummed that the teddy bear hood is entirely too small. That's what I get for ordering it off of Amazon I suppose. The bottom half is the correct size but when I put the hood on it barely fit half his head sooooo. I am going to try and save it...Let out the seams and unstitch the front to leave a raw edge and if need be add a little elastic piece to the chin strap...keeping my fingers crossed it works...It really is adorable otherwise...

Then of course since everyone talks about getting some yarn craft time in sitting in cars or at the park etc. I thought hmmm maybe I could do something at the hospital...Well I did a tiny bit....Turns out even a hospital room can't keep a 2yr old down haha..

Lastly my daughter did get in on the creative time this week and put together a gingerbread haunted house...Gotta love Lucy already plotting to take a bite out of it :P...

Go on and check out some more productive spaces over at Kirsty's :)

A downside

I have to say there are a lot of upsides to being in the military along with "downs" of course. This week we are dealing with a major downside IMO...

Scott has a pretty bad case of Staph Infection it's not the first time he has had it since we have been here but they have decided to keep him in the hospital here on base to monitor it and to go in today and clean it out. Which basically means surgery because he is in so much pain. And they are not sure how deep it has traveled in his knee.

The down side??? Other then the actual infection and the fact that the main reason for this cruddy situation is due to this cruddy unclean location. Is that there really isn't anyone here for us. As far as family or friends. We have to maneuver 4 kids around a hospital stay and hope to be together at the appropriate times.

I am not a mom who asks anyone for help. Honestly other then a few occasions with family I have never had a "babysitter" So unless we are around family the full time care of the kiddos are on my hands. Which is just fine with me, until something like this comes up.

Anywho...It's just one of those days where I will be wishing some family members were like me and loved a good old fashioned 5hr road trip. So they could be close by. To be either with Scott when I can't or watch over the kids for a bit so I can.

But that's not the case so here and there and everywhere it is. Thankfully we live on post and the hospital is only a few miles away so there's an "up" I suppose..

Well I am gonna head out and check on the hubby. Please keep him in your prayers...

I did it!!!!!

After trying and trying for a year I knit a full on beanie...This is the Felicity hat on Ravelry. I have learned that my knitting gauge is a little on the tight side so it's not as "slouchy" as in her pictures but it's still perfect to me :)...Hubby was walking around with it on last night. Upset that I didn't make him a hat of course..:P..

I used circulars, increases and decreases all new to me and it only took me a week haha which of course is forever in hat making time for me because I can crochet one up in no time flat. But I am really happy and pleased with the results. And as I have mentioned before it was on my Christmas To-Do list so check that one off :)

The brim is rolled up quite a bit when not worn but it flattens out quite nicely on..What do you think??

A "had to have"

Last night we headed out to the closest city and hit up Target. Normally we stroll around buy a few essentials but nothing too fancy. Maybe a clearance item or two etc..

While we were browsing around Scott picked up a cuter the cute jacket for Shay. And tried it on him..OH I just swooned over it, it was just too cute..But of course only had it in Size 5T...Way to big for this 2yr old....

And knowing that I am not in California yet with my option to pick and choose from several Targets I was a bit bummed. Until the preggo brain moment was over and I realized..ONLINE.. So I did it I got Shay the cutest little Faux leather jacket around...I can't wait til it gets here so I can show it off better but here it is pre-Shay...

Cute Right??? There was my splurge for the month...Although it was only $20..:)

The Good Report...

1. It's been a beautiful weekend...Temps in the low 70's, loving it.

2. Although it's not a good situation. I finally convinced Scott to go to the ER for his staph infection instead of letting the Army sick call deal with it...They don't really seem to have an urgency in dealing with issues like this so hopefully the hospital will do something more then prescribe a hardly used medication.

3. Shay's vocabulary is bursting at the seams. It's so fun to watch him experiment with new words.

4. Getting inspired by the new show...The world's strictest parents..I have a tendency to let anger get the best of me when dealing with my older kiddos which leads to yelling. When I know it's not necessary and they don't have a choice they have to listen regardless..So watch out kiddos :P

5.Just about 9 rows away from finishing my first beanie on circulars. Which also happens to be the first item on my To-Do Christmas list. whoohoo

6. 29 weeks tomorrow..Yeah baby..moving right along...

What I'm up to....

Well we are wrapping up another week here at Fort Polk...How is it I am home all day long and still feel like I don't get enough accomplished???

Today we are headed to the Pumpkin Patch here on post. I hope it isn't so crowded that it is more of a hassle. I haven't seen any patches in town so if this doesn't work out I suppose some $4 pumpkins at Wal-Mart will have to work.

Scott is dealing with another round of Staph seems every few months he is getting this crud. I'd say this is the worst he has had. It's in his knee and they only prescribed him a mild antibiotic that after looking it up is only used nowadays in conjunction with another medicine so keeping my fingers crossed it works anyways. If not then I am sure come Monday we will be spending a lot of time in the ER.

Watching VH1 this morning I heard a new song by Train Went to check out their website. So so so excited they are back together and have a new CD coming out next week..WHOOHOO..They are one of my faves. Maybe moving back to California will allow me the opportunity to see them in concert :)

Of course I am still working on my pile of craftiness..Especially the place mats and trying my hand at knitting with circulars..Going good so far!!! I think I will be writing up a list of Christmas gifts here soon. The time is running out and I need to get busy already...washcloths, scarves, bags, hats oh my..

Speaking of piles, I have a nice large clean one on the couch of clothes that I need to put away. Yes fun! And grocery shopping today can't forget that...

And as always chasing around the 2yr old...

All of me...

And boy do I mean ALL....Since I have only posted strictly tummy shots up until now I figured I would give in and do the whole shebang. Even though it totally frustrates me to see myself this big considering I worked so hard to lose weight beforehand. I am not shocked or alarmed because this is what my body does in pregnancy...Despite my huge dissaprovel :P

Oh and if you like painted bellies I thought this gallery was too cute..
