It's just the Army wife life...

Today is day 1 of Scott being gone for the next 3 weeks, and my first time being left alone with all 5 kids. Although taking care of them by myself is not a big deal , the not having an adult to talk to is more the issue when he is gone. Which can leave me cranky when dealing with the kids....

Scott left last night to head to WLC (Warrior Leader Course) in Fort Bliss, Texas. While most bases have this course we happened to be stationed at one that doesn't so he lucked out and got sent to the 3 week course instead of the norm 2 week one. And instead of being home every night will be stuck in the barracks and eating cruddy food, hopefully not spending too much money on his time off.

It's funny how no matter the length of time they will be away dropping your hubby off late at night never is easy. And that distinct feel of loneliness hangs in the air, as you watch a group of guys carrying more stuff then they will ever need but have to bring "just in case" onto the bus. And speaking of "stuff" this little trip cost us $400 (thanks Army).I will say I definitely prefer the long absences in the field where he can leave early in the  morning before we are all awake and I can just wake up and do my thing without having to say a goodbye. It's not all bad though, I do get to spend  the weekends at my sisters in Huntington Beach. It will be my "me" time even though the kids will be in tow. There is just something about that place makes life easier. And despite the spewed words of hatred towards eachother when we were little, as adults me and my  sis have become very close and thoroughly enjoy eachother's company. So each week will be a countdown to, let's head to the beach Friday...

And every morning I wake up alone with the exception of the 2 littles sleeping with me, I remind myself...
It's just the Army wife life!

My father was in the air force for most of my life.. (now he works for them but not as an officer) anyway, I KNOW what ya' mean... here we are all going to the army for 2 yrs, and after that all males has to give 30 days of service a year...I know 30 days is nothing but whenever it arrives...I just wish he would be stationed very close by so he'll be able to come back home everynight - no matter how late - just knowing that he is coming home =)

Stay strong hang in there I'll join your countdown
xo

Oh I really don't like saying goodbye. I too would much rather wake up and he is gone.
I'm constantly sadden and annoyed at the US army for what they put families through. Seriously, you guys give so much!
Good luck for the next 3 weeks. Enjoy the weekends with your sis xox

Yeah, but I can imagine the army wife life can be pretty damned tricky at times. Hang in there Mrs. Here's to weeks that whizz by and a speedy return of the Mr.

PS. I know those sticky sweets you are talking about up top. Our next door neigbour used to treat us with them weekly. It became quite a trial in manners and etiquette.
